The resort is located on Langkawi, the Islands of Legends in the northern Malaysian State of Kedah. It is ideally situated at the base of some of the oldest mountains in Asia. Here at Burau Bay the rainforests meet the sea and provide a peaceful retreat where guests and many native animals live in harmony. These coastal rainforests are also believed to be some of the oldest in the world and have been dated to over 120 million years old. 

The Mutiara Burau Bay Beach Resort is one of the most established resorts on the island. Recent renovations have made this pleasant three-star property beside a six-star coconut-fringed beach (two beaches in fact – some cabanas are situated on Pantai Kok), an excellent location for families and couples who appreciate peaceful solitude in a small property with excellent international standards and professional service.

While it is impossible to build a resort and not make some impact upon the environment, every effort has been made to create a resort that blends harmoniously into its natural setting.All plants and animals on the property are protected and many species can be found in the forests, adjoining mangroves and along the beachfront. Monkeys live in the trees, the flying colugo makes it home here and hornbills soar overhead.

The grassy areas of the resort are the best location in the world to see the rainbow lizard! Guests are encouraged to discover and learn from nature while at the resort and our staff are pleased to help guests “open their eyes” to the many natural assets of Burau Bay.

Guests can relax besides the pool or swim in the safety of clear waters off Burau Bay or participate in a range of activities for the adventurous or sports-minded.To many visitors, Langkawi is considered an island but in actual fact there are some 104 islands in the archipelago.

These rounded islands are mostly unsettled and blanketed in a unique forest that grows on the limestone bedrock. Only two islands in the whole archipelago are populated with the remainder being left in their natural state for the pleasure of all who visit. There are a little over 50,000 people on the island and most live in Kuah. 

It was only a decade or so ago that Langkawi was placed on the world’s tourist map so most of the islands remain as they have for many centuries. The people of Langkawi have been involved in primary production for much of this time. Fishing, rubber, padi rice and coconut production has sustained them for centuries. Travel around the island and you will still see signs of these activities in the kampungs (villages) on Langkawi. 

There are many legends in the Malay folklore on Langkawi and several tourist attractions here relate to these legends. Most are situated in picturesque settings and are therefore worth visiting for their beauty as well as the legends.

The resort has been designed for guest comfort with an emphasis on casual relaxation. As much attention has been placed on the cabana interior as well as the maintenance of excellent gardens and natural habitats – we believe guests want to spend as much time as possible outside soaking up what nature has bestowed upon Burau Bay.

Accommodation
150 comfortable bayside cabanas in the forest Cabanas decorated in bright and breezy Mediterranean colours. A resort with a casual and relaxed ambience. Summer Camps
Mutiara Burau Bay Beach Resort offers excellent facilities for Summer Camps as a camp within a resort concept. While it is located in the resort grounds it is situated in its own isolated area away from resort guests. Dormitory accommodation for 84 people makes this an ideal centre for groups and children. Those staying here have access to the beach facilities at the resort. It has been designed and built to international standards and offers outdoor adventure and educational activities for studies on wetlands, rainforests and team building. 

The school is staffed by trained professionals who assist group leaders in conducting their activities. In addition to the dormitories there is a large communal dining area and cafeteria, Surah and showers and toilets.

The Resort offers several great dining option all with a relaxed and casual ambience.

Seri Mutiara Restaurant & Terrace
The restaurant serves a wide selection of local specialities and international favourites. Relax in the casual atmosphere and enjoy a refreshing meal with premier views overlooking the Andaman Sea and the resort swimming pool. Guests can select from extensive and varied buffets to delicious á la carte selections from the menu. The indoor section of the restaurant adjacent to the lobby seats 100 diners with space for an additional 50 on the open terrace besides the pool.

Seashell Beach Cafe
If this restaurant were any closer to the beach, diners would be sitting in the water! A scenic retreat to unwind and relax by the beachfront with your favourite snack and thirst quencher. Situated under the coconut palms besides the beachfront, this open-air restaurant accommodates 60 guests. 
Opening Hours: from 12 noon to 12 midnight. 

Watch the sunset while enjoying pre-dinner drinks, snacks and full meals in an informal setting and soothing popular tunes from our resident guitarist. An adjoining play area for children means that parents can dine in comfort knowing that their children are gainfully and safely occupied. The atmosphere couldn’t be better, this is what holidays are all about.

A relaxing and informal lounge located adjacent to the lobby that seats 60 people. Sample some delicious cocktails served in a tropical ambience.

Dewan Impian & Dewan Perdana
Dewan Impian: 13.6 x 7.6-sq. m in size and catering for up to 120 people. It can be divided into two smaller rooms, each catering for up to 50 and 70 people, respectively. 

Spacious landscaped grounds suitable for barbecues and theme parties. 
Facilities: microphone, PA system, screens, overhead projector, 16mm projector, slide projector, cassette recorder, flip-chart, video recorder, TV monitor, whiteboard and backdrop. Dewan Impian is a combination of Impian 1 & 11. 

Theme Parties
Nestling amidst mature forests, Mutiara Burau Bay Beach Resort offers a unique natural setting for its 
Jungle Theme Parties. Other exciting themes available indoors or outdoors, include Malam Kenduri, Marine and Hawker’s Night. The spacious and tropical forests of the resort provide the perfect backdrop for memorable theme parties.
