75 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

On the 11th December 1928, a legend of Asian hospitality was born - The Peninsula Hong Kong opened her doors for the first time, and has been welcoming guests and patrons from all over the world ever since.

The Peninsula celebrates her 75th anniversary next year, and while the actual anniversary falls on 11th December 2003, a year of celebrations was launched on 11th December 2002.

Activities and events will not only commemorate the history of the hotel and the role she's played in the history of Hong Kong through the years, but also look to the future with a range of artistic, musical and photographic projects and competitions for Hong Kong's young people, focusing on the city's fast disappearing historical and architectural heritage.

An exciting selection of new dining and accommodation packages will be on offer, including the return of traditional afternoon tea dances every Sunday from September to December, and two new Peninsula Academy programs - a new Peninsula Academy Culinary Journey dining odyssey around the hotel and a weekend stay with a special Peninsula historical walk hosted by well known local historian, author and journalist, Jason Wordie.

A selection of limited edition gifts and souvenirs will be available in the Peninsula Boutiques, together with the new "Peninsula Chocolatier" range of chocolates (launched on 11th December 2002) and the full range of Peninsula Tea Collection teas including a new 75th Anniversary blend, available during the anniversary year only.

The Peninsula's French restaurant Gaddi's will also be celebrating its 50th anniversary next year so its double celebration! Events will include a gala dinner marking the anniversary, together with cooking classes featuring Gaddi's signature dishes through the years.

Another theme of the anniversary year is that giving back to the local community, and thus there will be a very strong emphasis on local charities. Activities and fund-raising events will benefit a range of local charitable organizations, and celebrations will culminate on 11th December 2003 with a spectacular gala evening throughout the hotel, with all proceedings benefiting the chosen causes.
